Sandie Chambers - Director of Training and Development
Sandie has studied both human and equine sports science and has been the driving force behind Equestrian Edge. Having spent almost her entire career in Fitness and Equestrian sports and as seasoned Equestrian, places Sandie at the top in Equestrian Fitness and Performance. Sandie has managed some of Europes leading leisure facilities and having trained horses for a number of International Show Jumpers and Dressage riders, has built up an impressive record and reputation for achieving exceptional results with clients and equine's from all sorts of competitive and non-competitive backgrounds.
Sandie is also a Master Practitioner in Neuro Linguistic Programming having trained with top Sports Psychologist Andy Barton. Sandie is achieveing exceptional results in psychology for Equestrians and Athletes from all sporting backgrounds, abilities and ages.
Dr David Marlin - Scientific Director
David Marlin obtained his PhD from Loughborough University in 1989 based on work undertaken at the Animal Health Trust studying the responses of Thoroughbred racehorses to exercise and training. He then worked for 3 years as an exercise physiologist for racehorse trainer Luca Cumani in Newmarket. From 1993Ð1996 he undertook studies on thermoregulation and transport of horses in the build-up to the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. His main areas of professional interest are respiratory function in man and animals in health and disease with special focus on asthma, thermoregulation and general exercise physiology. From 1990 until 2005 he worked at the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket as a Senior Scientist and Head of Physiology.
David currently works as an independent scientific consultant, as a director of a nutrition company and holds the positions of Visiting Professor in Cardiorespiratory Physiology at the University of Bristol, Visiting Professor in Equine Science at Nottingham Trent University, Associate Dean for Research at Hartpury College and Adjunct Professor in Physiology at Oklahoma State University. He is the author of over 200 scientific papers and book chapters. DavidÕs other affiliations and positions include member of the editorial board of the Equine Veterinary Journal, Chairman of the International Conference on Equine Exercise Physiology (ICEEP) and editor of Comparative Exercise Physiology. He is also the author of Equine Exercise Physiology (Blackwell) with Kathryn Nankervis.
David worked with the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) and the British Equestrian teams in the build up to the 2008 Olympic Games. He has worked as a consultant to the British Equestrian Teams since 1994 and has been a member of the World Class Performance Scientific Advisory Group chaired by John McEwen since its inception in 2006. DavidÕs recent projects have included a review of the effects of temperature on horses during transport for DEFRA, investigation of welfare in Endurance racing for the FEI and a study of the health and welfare impact of long distance transport to slaughter in Europe for World Horse Welfare.
Stuart Chambers - Fitness and Performance Director
Stuart graduated with an honours degree in Sports Science at John Moore University, on leaving University Stuart began working with elite sports performers and also within the main health and fitness indusrty, joining the ranks of some of Europes top leisure operators. Stuart's career developed further into the field of performance nutrition where he has helped to develop products to support athletic performance and recovery for both humans and equines. This move took him into the heart of elite level team and individual sports and Stuart has made his mark as a leading sports scientist in this field. Stuart's role at Equestrian Edge is to develop all sports training programmes based on current day trends and innovative methods. With a keen eye for sourcing the best in innovative training equipment and products, Stuart will be providing clients with not just the latest training techniques but also the latest in effective equipment and health products.
Stuart is also a Master Practitioner in NLP Sport Psychology and a general Master practitioner in NLP. Stuart works with a wide range of sports performers from football, rugby, golf, tennis, triathon and the equestrian sports.
Andy Barton - Sports Psychologist and NLP Trainer
Andy Barton is a Certified Trainer in NLP and an internationally respected Sports Psychologist. He works with elite sports performers including Premiership footballers and rugby players, European Tour golfers, World and Olympic medallists, international athletes, cricket players, show jumpers and tennis players.
Andy provides his students with the tools to significantly improve their performance in sport and in other areas of life and to be able to coach others to do the same.
Andy appears regularly on television news and sports-related documentaries, on radio and in the press.
Ann Taylor - Equestrian Edge Rider Trainer and Analyst
Ann Taylor was born in the States and has been competing since her teens. Ann competed at the key 3 day events at all levels and competed in the 1988 Seoul Olympics. She left US for England in 1998. Once on England turf Ann competed successfully at Badmington and Burghley. Ann was also listed for the 2000 Olympic games in Sydney Australia. Ann won at Blair CCI as did her husband Nigel on a different occasion. Ann has competed all over Europe and continues to produce top quality events at international level. Ann also teaches riders of all levels and hosts three day events at Washbrook Farm, added to that she also produces and sells eventers and jumpers. Ann was also a selector for the 2008 American Olympic Event team.
Jodie Amos - Equestrian Edge Rider Programmer, Trainer and Analyst
Jodie is a young, talented and ambitious rider and trainer. Jodie is working with Equestrian Edge to deliver training programmes aimed at the rider wishing to gain the edge on their competition. Through her own achievements Jodie recognises the need for quality trainers and will inpart her knowledge and expertise to riders wishing to develop their own abilities and also those wishing to train others. Jodie is a real asset to the Equestrian Edge team, not only does she have the drive and ambition, she is also a brilliant communicator with experience that goes beyond her years. Also an asset to the Equestrian Edge team is Jodie's billingual abilities. She speaks fluent French and Spanish!
Nigel Taylor - Equestrian Edge Rider Trainer and Analyst
Nigel has competed since his early twenties and has been placed at Badmington numerous times and has also competed successfully at Burghley. Nigel was 10th at the 1995 European Championships and won Bronze in the1998 World Championships. Nigel teaches all levels of competitiors and is trainer to a number of international event prospects. Nigel has developed Washbrook Farm over the years from a small equine holding to a top 120 acre Three day event centre. This year Nigel will host the selection for the Beijing Olympics as well as continue to hold three day events and other affiliated and non-affliliated events. Nigel has competed all over Europe and continues to develop top level eventers of international level.
